MY STRONG FAMILY - DWI Assessments
DWI (or driving while intoxicated)

“If you drink, don’t drive. Don’t even putt.”
—Dean Martin

Well, Dean Martin may be funny, but there is nothing funny about receiving a DWI in the state of Minnesota. Besides the health and safety issues, the average cost of an infraction is over $4,000.00. Persons charged with a DWI , and most other alcohol-related infractions, are required to complete a “Chemical Health Assessment.” This assessment serves three important functions:

It helps support the client’s defense lawyer’s strategy.
It guides the judge during sentencing by providing recommendations of education and / or treatment options. These options correspond to the “Risk Rating” from 0 to 3 determined by the assessment.
It provides objective feedback to the client regarding his or her chemical misuse/abuse. This is accomplished by identifying current use patterns and risk factors associated with developing future alcohol related problems. A summary statement provides a listing of strengths and vulnerabilities the client has in terms of their substance use.

Paul Buckley has training and experience in providing assessments in the court-preferred Rule 25 and Rule 31 formats. Upon completion of the assessment, the client will receive a court-submitable report. This service is thorough, supportive of the client, and highly confidential.
