MY STRONG FAMILY - Adolescent and Child Therapy
Adolescent and Child Therapy
As a therapist, if you can’t enjoy an overemotional teenager, you probably can’t work with this population. Sadness, fear and anxiety feature prominently in this kaleidoscopic world of the emotionally intense young person. Another key emotion, anger, can be energetically expressed as sadness; it can take the form of loyalty to an absent or deceased parent; it can be seeking revenge for unwelcome change; it can be a defense against intimacy; it can be a call for emancipation. For all the permutations of this difficult emotion, young people and their parents or guardians benefit by examining its root causes and motivation in order to find more effective methods of coping, communicating and connecting.
